WHAT WE DO

Our Kotlin Developer Expertise

Jetpack Compose UI

Jetpack Compose UI

We build modern Android UIs with Jetpack Compose, declarative layouts, Material Design 3, smooth animations with the Compose animation APIs, and adaptive layouts for phones and tablets.

Clean Architecture

Clean Architecture

We structure Android codebases with Clean Architecture layers, UI, domain, and data, using Hilt for dependency injection, ViewModel for state, and StateFlow for reactive UI updates.

Kotlin Coroutines

Kotlin Coroutines

We replace callback hell with structured concurrency, coroutines, Flow, and suspending functions that make async Android code readable, testable, and safe from common threading errors.

Kotlin Multiplatform

Kotlin Multiplatform

We build shared business logic in Kotlin Multiplatform for Android and iOS, shared networking, data models, and use cases, reducing duplication without forcing a single UI framework.

Google Play Launch

Google Play Launch

We handle the full Google Play submission pipeline, signing configuration, release tracks, store listing metadata, content rating, privacy policy, and Fastlane automation.

Offline & Sync

Offline & Sync

We build offline-first Android apps with Room for local persistence, WorkManager for background sync, and conflict-resolution logic that keeps data consistent across sessions.

Testimonials

What Our Clients Say

What impressed us most was how Kultrix handled the full stack - frontend, backend, and mobile - with one cohesive team. Communication was clear, delivery was predictable, and the final product exceeded what we initially scoped.

Frank W.

Co-CEO

Kultrix built both our web platform and mobile app from scratch. Their team understood the complexity of our industrial workflows and translated them into clean, intuitive interfaces. We launched on time and our operators adopted the tools immediately.

Dinant V.

Co-CEO

Kultrix handled everything for us - landing page, dashboard, mobile app, and even a Chrome extension. Having one team own the entire product surface meant everything felt connected and consistent. They shipped fast and the quality speaks for itself.

Timur G.

CEO, Ping Proxies

Kultrix has been our go-to partner for multiple projects - from marketing websites to full mobile applications and backend systems. They scale up when we need speed and maintain consistency across every project. Reliable, fast, and technically strong.

Musa S.

CEO, Volume Apps

Working with Kultrix on our mobile app and backend was seamless. They brought strong product thinking to every sprint, not just code. When priorities shifted, they adapted quickly without losing momentum. Exactly the kind of partner a product team needs.

Taj S.

Product Lead, Pelago

We needed a team that could handle mobile development, server infrastructure, and AI features all at once. Kultrix delivered on all three fronts. Our fitness platform went from concept to production in under four months with zero compromises on quality.

Laurent D.

CEO, Fitblast

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Kotlin is Google's preferred language for Android and has been the default since 2019. It eliminates entire categories of Java bugs - null pointer exceptions, verbose boilerplate, and threading errors - through null safety, coroutines, and more expressive language features. Jetpack Compose, the future of Android UI, is Kotlin-first and unusable from Java. All new Google Jetpack libraries are Kotlin-first. Choosing Kotlin for a new Android project in 2026 is the only sensible default.

Standard start time is 48 hours from contract signing. For developers with specific expertise - Kotlin Multiplatform, Android Automotive, or Wear OS - one week is typical. We maintain bench capacity for standard Android phone and tablet development at all times.

Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) allows you to share business logic - data models, API clients, use cases, and repositories - between Android and iOS while keeping native UIs on each platform. It is the most mature shared-code approach that does not compromise native UI quality. KMP is a good fit when you have a team with Kotlin expertise and want to avoid duplicating core logic across two codebases. It is not the right choice if your team lacks iOS Swift expertise, since the iOS integration still requires native Swift work.

Jetpack Compose is our default for all new Android UI work. It produces significantly less code than XML layouts, integrates naturally with Kotlin's type system, and is the direction Google is investing in for the future of Android UI. For existing XML-based codebases, we maintain the current approach and can introduce Compose incrementally in new screens using the interop layer.

Yes. We regularly join mature Android codebases - migrating from Java to Kotlin, introducing Jetpack Compose to XML-based projects, upgrading architecture from MVP or MVC to MVVM, replacing AsyncTask with Coroutines, and adding test coverage to untested projects. We start with a code and architecture review, align with your team's conventions, and contribute within the first sprint.

We follow Google's recommended architecture: a UI layer with Compose and ViewModel, a domain layer with use cases containing business logic, and a data layer with repositories abstracting local (Room) and remote (Retrofit/Ktor) data sources. Hilt provides dependency injection. Navigation Compose manages screen routing. StateFlow and SharedFlow handle reactive state updates to the UI. This layered architecture is testable, scalable, and familiar to any Android engineer who joins the project.

All async work uses Kotlin Coroutines and Flow. ViewModels launch coroutines in viewModelScope so they are cancelled automatically when the ViewModel is cleared. Repository functions are suspending functions or return Flow for reactive streams. Background tasks that need to survive app restarts go through WorkManager, which integrates with Coroutines via the CoroutineWorker class. We avoid RxJava on new projects but work with it on existing codebases.

Yes. We implement Google Play Billing Library for one-time purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions - Play Console product configuration, purchase flows with loading and error states, server-side purchase token validation with the Google Play Developer API, entitlement management, and reliable restore purchase handling. We keep current with the annual Play Billing Library updates, which include breaking changes that require active maintenance.

We write unit tests with JUnit 5 and MockK for business logic and ViewModel behaviour, integration tests for Room database operations using the in-memory test variant, and UI tests with the Compose UI testing APIs for component-level testing. End-to-end tests run on Firebase Test Lab across a representative matrix of real devices. Tests run in CI on every pull request, blocking merges when they fail.

We target a minimum SDK that covers 95%+ of active Android devices, which in 2026 is typically API 24 (Android 7.0). Jetpack libraries provide backward compatibility for modern APIs on older OS versions. We test on a range of OS versions using Firebase Test Lab and document any features that are gated behind higher API levels. We do not artificially restrict apps to higher minimum SDKs to avoid supporting older hardware.

Yes. We have experience building for Android TV (10-foot UI, D-pad navigation, Leanback library) and Wear OS (tile-based UI, health sensor access, watch face development). Both platforms require significant UI adaptations from the phone paradigm. For Android Automotive OS - the in-car infotainment target - we have experience with the media and messaging app templates that pass Google's certification requirements.

Monthly retainer engagements offer a fixed allocation of developer hours with guaranteed availability and a fixed monthly fee - best for ongoing product development. Time-and-materials engagements are billed weekly against tracked hours - better for defined-scope projects. Both include weekly progress reports, transparent timesheets, and a dedicated account manager. Minimum engagement is one month.
