Automated testing involves scripts that execute test cases programmatically — it is repeatable, fast, and runs continuously in CI without human involvement. Both are necessary: automation handles regression coverage, manual testing handles exploratory discovery. Kultrix QA engineers are proficient in both.

Standard start time is 48 hours from contract signing. For QA engineers with specific automation framework expertise (Playwright, Cypress, Appium for mobile) or performance testing experience, a one-week lead time is typical. We maintain bench capacity for general QA work at all times.

Playwright is our default for web end-to-end testing — it is faster and more reliable than Selenium, supports all major browsers, and has excellent TypeScript integration. Cypress is preferred on projects where the team wants an in-browser debugging experience. For mobile testing, we use Detox (React Native), Appium (cross-platform), or XCUITest/Espresso for native apps. Framework choice is driven by the project stack, not preference.

Yes. We regularly join projects with zero automated test coverage and build a suite from the ground up — selecting the framework, establishing folder structure and naming conventions, writing the first critical-path tests, and integrating the suite into the CI pipeline. We configure test parallelisation to keep CI feedback fast, set up test reporting dashboards, and configure failure notifications so the right person is alerted within minutes of a regression.

We test APIs at three levels: contract testing (validating response shape and type against a schema), functional testing (verifying that correct inputs produce correct outputs across all documented endpoints), and negative testing (verifying that invalid inputs, authentication failures, and edge cases return the correct error responses). Postman collections are checked into source control and run in CI alongside E2E tests.

Yes. We use k6 for performance testing — defining virtual user scenarios, ramp-up profiles, and success thresholds. We test the endpoints and user flows that are most load-sensitive (search, checkout, authentication) under realistic concurrent user loads, identify bottlenecks in the application or database, and provide a report with reproduction scripts so engineers can address root causes.

Our QA engineers participate in sprint planning to review acceptance criteria and identify testability issues before development starts. Yes. Many QA engineers on the Kultrix bench are SDETs (Software Development Engineers in Test) who write both test code and, when needed, production code. They write unit tests with Jest or pytest, integration tests for API endpoints, and contribute to shared test utilities. The boundary between QA and development on modern teams is intentionally blurry.

End-of-project deliverables include a maintained automation test suite checked into the repository, a test plan document covering scope and coverage strategy, a test run report for the final release, and documentation of any open known issues with severity ratings. We ensure the automation suite is in a state where the client team can maintain and extend it after the engagement ends.

We offer monthly retainer (fixed QA hours per month, guaranteed availability) and project-based (QA resource embedded for a defined delivery) models. Both include weekly reporting, bug triage support, and a dedicated account manager. Minimum engagement is one month.
